Ideas for birthday day out for OH

Any ideas please for a day out for my OH's birthday. Probably London as this is accessible and could possibly stay over to make it extra special. I'm looking for something a little different to do. Alternatively any suggestions for a really nice weekend away in the south of England somewhere. I'm just really struggling with knowing what to do for his birthday and being a typical man he's hard to buy for.

Bath is a lovely city, but Portsmouth has more in the way of typical bloke-ish attractions and days out. The New Forest is stunning in autumn if you want some relaxing walks or bike rides. There's a pretty large motor museum there too. Isle of Wight or Brighton are other destinations to consider.

Alternatively, you could surprise him completely by flying to Edinburgh. Some air fares are cheaper than train tickets to London and it takes little over an hour from London. There's so much to do.

Have you been to Beaulieu? Could combine with New Forest and depending on budget Chewton Glen (haven't been but looks amazing)

Fly to Paris for lunch.

Have a day driving Land Rovers off road.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking either a day in London doing something (not sure what) and maybe staying over or a weekend away somewhere a little different (either staying somewhere completely unusual or a really lovely hotel). New(ish) relationship so want to do something he might not have done before and also make it quite special.
