Madrid in October

Planning to go to Madrid in October with DS14. For 4 days. He is a typically teenage grump when it comes gallery visits (my passion) so I am trying to think of things in Madrid we can do that will be fun for him as well. He loves football (looked at football tickets but they are eye-wateringly expensive), loves sport generally, into all the usual teenage stuff (xbox etc). Once inside a museum he gets quite stuck in but he just has a mental block about the idea of going to them!

We will be meeting up with family & friends there, but no-one with young people, so need to come up with a plan.....

Any suggestions much appreciated.

We had a great time in Madrid last October with DS, 11 & 12. We tried to strike a balance between fun things & culture.

We splurged on tickets to see Real Madrid which was actually very good. You can also do a stadium tour at a much more reasonable cost. Maybe Atlético tickets would be less eye watering?

We did a Segway tour from the centre to the Retiro park - great fun, just the 4 of us as it happened. We went back to the Retiro park another day & went boating on the lake.

We also visited Las Ventas, the bull fighting arena which was very interesting. We really enjoyed the royal palace too.

Unfortunately the teleférico cable car to the Casa de Campo was closed for maintenance or we would have gone there. A day trip by train to Toledo was another possibility.

We loved Madrid - friendly people, easy to walk around or use the metro, fantastic food & wine! (We used TheFork app to get discounts in restaurants for dinner.)

Buenas vacaciones!
