Am I going to get jetlagged on this whirlwind trip to LA?

Just preparing myself - we are flying on a Wednesday and returning on the Friday. I'm figuring it's not long enough to get jetlagged and I'll just be plain old tired?

When I get jetlagged it lasts for ages so I'm really hoping I will avoid it on this trip!

You won't be able to stay on UK time, so you will have to make some adjustment to LA time I'm afraid. I'm usually OK going west though, it's coming back east that's a killer for me

You won't know which way is up by the time you get back! Wednesday will be a very long day so you will sleep well that night. Thursday you will wake up early. Friday night if that is when you are flying, will be horrid & then you will collapse on Saturday - probably not jet lagged, just very tired! Have fun.

You will likely get jetlagged because of the 8 hour time difference on the return leg. I'd write the weekend off but your circadian clock will reset itself in time.

yes

Melatonin is what you need. Bulk buy in LA, look in supplements aisle in the pharmacy. I take slow release 10mg first couple of night and 3mg for about 3 nights and all the time when I can't sleep which is often

I did something similar but to NYC. I was tired and a bit out of sorts. Took me about two days to recover when I got home.

I did Melbourne and back in 5 days. I was knackered and felt dreadful.

Yes. The worst ever jetlag I had was from a trip to California. Why only two days?

Curlybrunette · 21/09/2017 14:13

I'm going to LA for 4 days next month and we are determined to be non stop whilst we're there, and suffer the consequences when we get home!

I normally can't sleep on planes but I was away with a friend this weekend and she had one of these which was amazing. I've got one on order ready for my trip. I'm hoping if I am so knackered and can get some sleep on the flight (it is a night flight) that it might help a bit with the recovery afterwards???

Have a great time

You will be fine going Curly. You will want to get up at 4 am and crash at 8pm.

Flying back is what causes the jetlag problems.
