Are Virgin Atlantic strict about cabin baggage?

I've just bought new cases for a trip to America with Virgin Atlantic. When I got home I realised that the cabin case, which is standard cabin dimensions for most airlines, is 4cm too wide for VA's allowance. Does anyone know how likely they are to check/care/charge me if I take it??
I have time to swap but can't really face the shops again. The alternative to what I got with a narrower cabin case is about £200 more for the set so I would prefer to keep the ones I picked.

I wouldn't risk it

Keep the set, as you like it and it'll work on most airlines.

I found that Virgin weren't that strict, but you might not want to risk having the bag sent to the hood.

I suggest you just get a separate bag for cabin use (try TKMAxx) as there's no need to spend £200 on one.

I don't need to spend £200 on one but my old ones were completely wrecked when we last few so I have bought a new (hopefully stronger) complete set. They are a decent make but were on sale. The alternative set in the same make don't have the same discount so would be £200 more.

I know I'm being a total princess wanting a matching set Grin
