DH's 40th Birthday with 2 kids- on a budget- open to ideas

Any help gratefully received on this one- DH will turn 40 just before Oct half term. We would like to do a mini break with the DC (10 and 6) for as cheap as possible (just returned from a big summer holiday). I am open to any ideas, just not Paris or camping! UK is fair game too. It has to be Oct half term though as we are both teachers. Anything considered, city, beach, countryside, just need to do something to celebrate.

Malaga is fab. Lovely to wander around. Picasso, tapas...
Or do a show in London and meal in Chinatown?

Thanks Sparkle, am looking at Malaga flights now. I don't travel that much as we are restricted to school holidays, so we save our money for the summer. I'm out of practise at holiday research.
