Where to go in October half term, just me and the kids?

DC get 2 weeks off for October half term. One of these is off peak so it seems a shame to waste it!

I want to go somewhere as warm as possible, all inclusive and a maximum of 5 hour flight.

I quite fancied Turkey but DH isn't coming and people keep telling me it's not safe for a woman and children alone. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Failing that, I have considered Greece and Portugal. I would rather it wasn't the Canaries, just because I've been before.

All suggestions gratefully received! Smile

Cape Verde

Cape Verde does look lovely, I'll investigate, thanks.

It does look slightly out of budget though unfortunately! I'd like to keep it to less than £500pp if possible.

Portugal is usually still nice in October, warm and sunny although not as hot as the canaries. I believe quite a lot of the Greek Islands start closing in October as it's the end of their season whereas portugal will still be quite lively.

Cyprus. Lovely weather in Oct.

If you're going to an AI resort & intending to basically spend the time by the pool/in the hotel I would think Turkey is fine. Perhaps not if you were doing a lot if independent travel but a resort-based pool holiday with a reputable travel operator I wouldn't worry about.

Cyprus is now added to the list.

That's what I thought NoSquirrels but I know I will want to go out and do something. Day trips, wander round a town etc

Been to Turkey twice without a man, been out, used public transport etc never had an issue.

i wouldn't go to turkey alone. It was bad enough 10 years ago when i went with my then partner.
I know you said no canaries but they will all be still scorching hot this time of year and cheap enough.

I've been to Turkey on my own with kids and had zero problems
