passport advice

i am hoping to have a few days abroad soon but my passport is still in my old name, my name changed years ago and back then i was told by passport agency it was ok as long as i booked the ticket in my old name so it matched my passport.

As my trip was cancelled and i didnt think i would have the opportunity to go abroad for a long time i didnt want to waste money changing a passsport i may not use, although it would have been a lot cheaper to change it then than now!

Is it still the same as i was told then or do i need to get it changed and how long is it likely to take?

I had a similar thing when I got married but I decided to change the passport in the end as I thought that when I paid for it, the cheque would be in my married name and it might cause confusion.

You need to make sure that you book in the same name as is on your passport. If you pay by credit card it usually says that the credit card holder must travel which might cause problems - if you carry a copy of your mariage certificate though I would have thought it would be ok, or book via a travel agent (I'm assuming that's why your name has changed).
