Advice about VW Sharan back row seats

Wondering if someone can tell me if the back row seats fold down into the floor or just fold over? I am thinking about buying an MPV and know that the Touran fold right into the floor. I thought that a Ford Galaxy and Seat Alahmbra (?) were the same as the VW but their rear seats both need to be removed or folded over when not in use. Hope that makes sense. Just thinking about the Zafira as well and not sure what their seats do? Or if anyone can tell me a website that explains these things - Thanks

Well Dp had a touran from work, and it was a nightmare. These are the reasons:

1 back seats did not fold flat and had to be taken out, and put somewhere else.

2It is like driving a hearse or transit van

3 rear view is really bad as almost obscured by headrests.

Dp had it for 3 years and we both hated. He has a Zafira now, which is much better, and he got this because he had it before Sharan, and it was great. Espace is also good.

Zafira seats fold down, I'm fairly sure.

Well, at least there are no car seats hanging round in hall unlike touran. Ds then age 9, used to drag it into front room and sit on it

Thanks for that - what are Isofix seats though (you can tell I'm new to all of this). I did see inside someone's Alhambra and it had seats that were intergrated into the car seat so you just popped them up into booster seats and folded down a bit to make them younger childrens car seats - Is that what you mean?
My sister in law has the touran and raves about it and says her rear seats fold right down into the floor. Its a 2004 model so maybe it's changed now.
I did go to a garage but when I saw all the cars and salesmen hanging about I couldnt face it so thought I would do some research first!!! Thanks for your help.

Thanks. That does help. Now I just need to decide which one I want. Not sure if I'm too much of a snob for the Kia Sedona - will need to look into it as well!!!!

Dp's was a 2004. The middle seats fold down (I think), but the very back ones need to be taken out.

Ooooh , love car chat! We have a Zafira Don't get one!! You have to slide the 2nd row of seatf forward to put up the rearmost seats, and also to get in and out of the rearmost, which means you have to unplug and remove any carseats at the same time! Nightmare! We looked at the Sedona, but it has a low NCAP crash result, so is not especially safe. I am particularly anal about car safety, so this was a big issue with me!
We have now got a Ford S-MAX, which came out a few months ago. Is FAB! 5 star NCAP, highest in MPV class, and rearmost seats fold flat into boot floor, and can be put up and down in about ten seconds without moving any other seats. Unlike Zafira, all seats have a 3 pont belt, and the boot still fits a three-wheeler with all 7 seats up! Sorry for essay, but I seem to have spent years researching MPV's, so know how confusing it all is!

Also, look at www.euroncap.com for crash test info!

Parkers www.parkers.co.uk is v. good for car info, too!

Oh, thats good to know about the Zafira as I was really starting to think about that. We cant decide whether to have another baby or not - have 3 (ages 5, 3 and 2) at the moment - so that would influence how much we are likely to need the reat seats although we have 2 cousins (ages 6 and 3) who come out with us a lot. Thats why I dont want seats that have to get removed and put back. The Ford S Max sounds great - will look into that. I am NOT a researcher into things and then make mistakes so its great to have the benefit of other people's research - thanks!!!
