Flybe Hand luggage

I have totally got baby brain at the moment and I've not flown in a looong time so could anyone advise:
Flybe handluggage restrictions are 55x35x20cm, the bag I was going to use is 56x40x20cm. It's this one here: www.tripp.co.uk/tripp-glide-lite-iii-large-holdall-mulberry/p2654 it's squishy so as long as it's not over packed it would squeeze down to the allowed dimensions. Is that OK? Or am I better finding a smaller bag?

Me and my daughter went Flybe to Paris, my bag was 2cm too big so I borrowed one from my parents just to be safe
No one checked our bags or anyone else's on the flight
But I wouldn't risk it, if they do check and it's too big it will have to go in the hold and they charge you ££££ for it

I think it would be risky. Ours wasn't measured on the way out, but it was on the way back.

Ours was measured, we had flight bags but Flybe is smaller than most (ours would have been ok for Ryan air for example), we had to pay, we just totally didn't realise. They can be very strict so I wouldn't risk it, we were way under on weight but they wouldn't have it.

You need to find a smaller bag. It will be classed as oversized and will be placed in the hold. If that happens they will indeed charge ££££ for doing so.

My experience is mainly with longhaul, but the only way I've ever seen for cabin bags to be checked is whether they fit within a size guide frame. A soft bag like that should therefore be fine as long as you keep it sufficiently underpacked IMO.

We flew with Flybe recently. 5 people and we were all checked. 2 of our bags were 40cm wide not 35cm. Had to pay an extra £40 per bag for them to go in the hold. V expensive mistake. Didn't check them as assumed Ryan air were the airline with the least generous baggage size allowance and since those suitcases had been bought to their specifications assumed would be fine. They weren't. We were very cross. Had to pay to get them back again too.

I'd find a different bag.

I bought this case to fly with Flybe. It's brilliant: www.johnlewis.com/eastpak-tranverz-extra-small-2-wheel-h48cm-cabin-case/p3168476?colour=Apple%20Pick%20Red

I got this one. Pretty good for the price.
