Two centre holiday in Spain - can anyone help?!

Hi - I've done some research but not got very far so any suggestions appreciated! We usually do multi centre holidays booked independently - Sicily this year & Costa Rica last year. These are my kind of holiday (I'm not great at switching off on loungers!) but my DH wants to do something else. He likes relaxing by a pool & thinks our 9 year old would enjoy being somewhere with a lot of other kids, not just us. It's a fair point - the holiday she's most enjoyed was an AI in Morocco 3 years ago where she made lots of mates.

He'd like to go to Spain & is suggesting we do a city for a couple of days for me, then 7 days at an AI place with lots of outside attractions. The big tour companies have lots of AI places but there's no flexibility to book the city break bit. I've looked on booking.com & Expedia for AI's near Seville & Granada which are places I like but am coming up with b*gger all! Can anyone suggest a good AI near a fab Spanish city? Not keen on Murcia (my parents used to live there) & would probably want to avoid the Costa Del Sol (although I've not been there so could be really wrong on this!!). As above, I'm rubbish at the laying by the pool bit & can get a bit narky if doing this for long periods so the AI would need to be near interesting places to escape too! The 2 AI places we have stayed at in the last 12 years were both a bit full on in terms of encouraging guest participation & I'd prefer somewhere without an over enthusiastic 20 year old trying to get you to join in aqua aerobics/belly dancing/whatever every hour!

How about Barcelona for a few nights in a hotel/apt and somewhere like Sanguli/Cambrils for activity, other kids etc. We LOVE multicentre holidays and our kids love the idea of a few locations within a holiday.

I'm sure Thomson do two centred holidays in majorca. It might be worth popping in to a travel agency. There is plenty of culture in Majorca

Cheers both! Will have a look at 2 centre options for Majorca - not been but everyone I know who has liked it. Barcelona is a good suggestion - went years ago pre kids with friends but from what I remember from the sober bits it would be an interesting city for kids!

Palma and Soller could well work for you. Specifically the Esplendido in Soller which although isn't a resort type hotel has loads of kids during the summer holiday. Amazing town as well. Don't think we've eaten as well on a holiday as there.
