Toulouse in September?

DH and I enjoy good food, wine and weather on our holidays. Lots of pottering around and eating and drinking!!

I've found a beautiful hotel around 6k outside Toulouse which I quite fancy and it's hot a pool.

Has anyone visited Toulouse? Any recommendations?

Toulouse is gorgeous, particularly in the Autumn. I was there a long time ago and don't remember details such as restaurant names but would recommend walking around the old town, by the river and visiting the churches. Maybe watching a rugby match?

Carcassonne and Albi are not far - I found Albi mind-blowing, beautiful and with an amazing history. Lourdes it not far either if that is your cup of tea.

Thank you OhtoblazeswithElvira - I wasn't sure if it was a scenic city or more industrial so that good to know. we would probably get a car too so Albi sounds lovely.

I have a friend who lives in Toulouse who I have stayed with a couple of times. I loved loved loved it. Really recommend walking by the canal, over and beside the river, and visiting the galleries and museums, and wandering around the backstreets. Plenty to see and do.

What did you want recommendations of?

Carcassone is great to visit - and all the Cathar strongholds. Visit Albi and see the Toulouse Lautrec museum. The cathedral is beautiful too.

If you are a fan of Dan Brown etc have a look at Rennes le chateau - it’s a mystery...!

Ok those places need proper transport (car) but really worth a visit.

My husband had a heart attack whilst we were on honeymoon in carcassone and we ended up in a cardiac unit in Toulouse so we know it well.....Confused
