Ever been to Javea in Spain?

I know I have just posted about going to Italy (I am fickle )but I then found some info about an area of the Costa Blanca (I think) called Javea.Looked up flights and self catering appartments for when we want to go - all looking good. Have any of you been and can you tell me what its like. Which bit is the best place to stay - we want to be within 15 mins walking distance of restaurants, etc but not where we would be kept awake by late night music, etc. Am I right in thinking this is a 'nice' part of Spain?

Javea is lovely. It only has low rise buildings. It's stayed this way because it has a pebbly/rocky beach, not sand. However, it looks lovely plus there are a few cool beach shacks with music and drinks. You can tell it's a nice place because it's got a parador. It's not your classic British package tour place, although it's very close to places that are!

Javea is lovely, Pebbly beach? there is one strip between the Port and Arenal beach that is rocky, but Arenal is a lovely small sandy bay with a paseo full of shops and cafes. Lots of expats there, but lovely, and beautiful coastline. A sprinkling of small hotels, but mainly apartments and villas. Further out of town there are urbanisations - small estates with lots of places to rent. The town itself is inland a bit - a bus ride. There is a traditional market, cobbled windy streets in the old part of town and great shopping.
Best place to stay - anywhere really - nowhere is more than 15 mins from the sandy beach (you will need a hire car anyway- an hour's drive from Alicante and Valencia aiports)

Some lovely places to visit along the coast - Denia, Altea, Calpe.

Oh and Benidorm, if you feel in need of some tack and waterparks!

15 mins walking distance - you will need to stay in Arenal area. (No loud music anywhere except on the beach front places.)

We rented a villa in Javea with all Dps family when my Dd was 8 weeks old, it was a beautifull place. We were about a 5 minute drive from the Arenal beach, they have a street market each evening along the beach front with loads of little stalls selling lots of nice gifts and knick knacks.

The surrounding countryside is also beautifull, the rest of the family did drive into Benidorm for a waterpark, i would suggest hiring a car for some of the holiday to explore. Have fun we all loved it
