I can believe this OP. Cruises are sadly full of undesirables these days.

Yes it was on cctv showing it was unprovoked. He's not someone who would lie or get into fights. He was there with his wife and 2 young children. He was out having a cigarette. The ship did nothing other than see to him medically.
They are seeking legal advice today.

Does your nephew have a copy of the cctv footage? Was this resolved?

No its still going through. The cruise line are investigating. There was no security around when there should have been. They have footage of the parents buying the lads alcohol.
The measures they were dishing out were ridiculously OTT.
My sister and family were told to stay in their cabins and not let my nephew go out alone when the lads were allowed to roam freely around.
They have a curfew on board where no children/young adults are allowed to be out alone without an adult and this was not enforced.
Will update when I have any more news.

Sounds like those cruises that are classed as: wash foot and come.
