Majorca or Canary Islands for me and dd(15)?

I'm looking to book a week for July 2018 after dd has finished her GCSE's. I'd like to go all inclusive. We both want a lovely pool/ beach, a few cafes, a bit of shopping/ market and maybe a boat trip.

I've not been away before without dh, who will worry about our safety Blush, so somewhere we can feel comfortable in the evenings etc. Not too fussed about sightseeing as the aim of this break is to chill/ read by a pool.

I've never been to Spain/ Canaries before and am a bit green when it comes to holidays abroad.

Majorca, no contest. The canaries are ok but I only visit in winter as it's the only place that's hot. Majorca is not as tacky and much more beautiful. Enjoy!

Cala dor is my favourite. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants and compact. It does have a nice safe feel. The beaches are stunning

We went to Ibiza this year. Lots of teenagers with one or two parents after gcse and a levels. All inclusive, close to shops. They seemed to be having a great time. I would say Majorca out of your choices. Let me know if you want ibiza details.

Second Majorca. Cala d'Or or Cala Bona.

MirandaWest · 17/08/2017 19:39

We've just come back from a holiday to Majorca which was lovely

Heaveniswaiting · 17/08/2017 19:43

Another vote for Majorca. DS and I stayed in Palma for three nights this year post GCSEs. We didn't stay all inclusive but strolled around and picked places to go, Palma is really nice and I suggested to do that we go another time. I would not to Palma all inclusive but stay centrally, we stayed by the marina. It was lovely but we did not go to the beach.

Have a look at caletta de Fuste in Fuertaventura. Any of the barcelo accommodation (hotel/beach bungalows or club premium/royale) Its really convenient and safe if you are on your own. Its only 20 mins from the airport (cheap and easy to get taxi ) accommodation is lovely, stones throw from both the beach and resort shops/bars. It would be perfect if I was going on my own with my dd.

We have just come back from Majorca. We stayed at Gran Sol Hotel in Cala Bona. Was a lovely relaxing week. Ask for a sea view room and balcony. It had a sister hotel next door if you want entertainment although that seemed to have a problem with not enough sun beds around the pool. Although you could go to the entertainment at the sister hotel.

blondelino · 17/08/2017 19:52

Es Cana or Santa Eulalia in Ibiza would be perfect for what you're after. Had some wonderful holidays there.

Groovee · 17/08/2017 19:54

We have been to Salou numerous times. I've always felt quite safe there and it's a lovely wee place.

We love Tenerife. Around Los Cristianos. We go sc so can't comment on ai but loads to do. Lots of 'normal' shops around las americas, nice beaches and some nice hotels. Some lovely AI around porto colon apparantly which is the other side of las americas.

But Majorca is equally nice too. Alcudia is lovely and felt very safe a few years ago. The Belle Vue is a big AI we stayed at which was nice but very busy even out of season.

We have just come back from Menorca too which was beautiful but not as commercial as the other resorts we have stayed at. We stayed at the Carema Resort near Fornells which was beautiful but very secluded. Hotel was ace, ai food beautiful and entertainment good if you like that kind of thing.

I've holidayed alone with DC in
caleta de fuste, fuerteventura
Cala d'Or, Majorca
Santa Eulalia, Ibiza

They're all lovely but it's cala 'or I keep going back to. The beaches are picture perfect, there's loads of boat trips, lovely restaurants, not to mention the marina and more shops than the other resorts. Highly recommended private transfer though, it's much quicker.

SoPassRemarkable · 17/08/2017 20:06

Never been to tmajorca but Tenerife is lovely.

Hotel jardin tropical would suit you, nice and central but quietish. Great pool, on the beach, walking distance of all the shops and also of the marina for boat trips. Great water park in walking distance.

Oblomov17 · 17/08/2017 20:22

Ibiza. Es Cana or Santa Euralia.
Or Majorca.
Don't go Tenerife. We've just got back, from 2 weeks AI. 37 degrees. Far too hot.

I'm looking at a hotel in Calas de Mallorca

Another vote for Santa Eularia in Ibiza.

RedWineLush · 18/08/2017 22:13

That looks lovely OP. I don't know that area of Mallorca. Puerto Pollensa is lovely and I completely agree with the Ibiza recommendations; Santa Eulalia is lovely.

Underparmummy · 24/08/2017 10:43

Mallorca!
