Specifically Pantanal or Amazon region and can offer any advice on where to stay? Thanks

Not to that area!!! Hoping to go. My advice would be to look at the wildlife travel companies that go there and look at their record for seeing wildlife - I assume you are interested in jaguars. Then see what lodges suit your budget. We have been to rainforest lodges in Peru and Ecuador and there was quite a big difference in the quality of the guides. I felt the more expensive lodge gave us a far better guide and experiences. Have a great trip!
