Beaches an places to visit in Kefalonia and Zante

Hi,

I am looking for advice regarding best beaches and places to visit in Kefalonia and Zante. I love blue crystal water white sandy beaches. We are traveling with 2 children under 10 and will have a car there.

Not if you go to Lassi and go to Makris Gialos beach. It is a tourist beach, no getting away from that, with a taverna and lots of sun loungers and places to hire pedaloes, but it has soft sand and very clear water. The swimming area is well marked off, so you can swim safely without worrying about boats, and the beach shelves very gently so you don't get out of your depth too quickly.

On Zakynthos (Zante's Greek name - Zante is its Italian name), by far the nicest beach we found is Gerakas beach, where the sea turtles nest and hatch. It is a conservation beach and thus much less touristy than other beaches. You will (should, if the conservation rules are being enforced) find that there are areas of the beach which are restricted access because of the turtles.

You can park very close to both beaches.

It seems like there are lots of pebble beaches in Kefalonia though. Not sure why I chose the island now. I guess I will have to get some beach shoes and embrance pebbles.

Yes the sandy beaches are the o especially mentioned by popular the rest ate stony. Some pretty bays though. Zante good sandy beaches
