Best way to cross from the Isle of Wight to the mainland

Hi, we’re just about to move to the Isle of Wight, but DH will need to travel up to London a couple of times a week, so guessing he will need to take the Portsmouth route. Any thoughts about the best way to cross from the Isle of Wight to the mainland?

Will he be getting the train to London? The FastCat goes from Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour station, you walk up the exit ramp straight onto the station platform. It's possible to buy a train ticket straight through from an IOW station to London, which will include the crossing.

Join FB group IOW overners

There are loads of people who will help you with all types of questions about moving over to the Island

There are special cheaper prices for islanders who bulk buy them

Sort of like buy a book of tickets iirc

Some of the time he'll be getting the train but sometimes he'll need a car the other side. I had heard there were problems with the cat this summer and it might be better tot ake the hovercraft

Which is cheaper if you're an islander?
