Hi all

I'm new to mumsnet and excited to learn more from all you mums!

Are there any mums who have tips for staying in a holiday home with a young child? During our last holiday, our daughter had a hard time settling into our holiday home, she wasn't her playful self. Are there any parents that had the same / a similar experience? What do you recommend trying for our next holiday?

Thanks! Flowers
Julie

A cottage / chalet / house / caravan in the UK ?

We always made sure we took enough of their own things (toys, favourite cup or plate, blanket, bath toy, or whatever) so there were lots of familiar things around.
Then make it about the adventure - be excited about things yourself. Accept that routines won't be as they are at home. Explain what you are doing...... we're going to the beach and taking a picnic.... we'll be sleeping here again tonight...... sort of thing (I don't know how old your dc is?)
Some children like to talk about things you are going to do or going to see before you get there - with all there is to view on the internet it should be easy enough to find images.
