We are just about to book a little cottage in Lot et Garonne, in Aquitaine in France. Thing is, I know nothing about the area. Just hoping it is basically rural, not much industry etc. Anyone been on holiday to this area? I know there are some nice towns around, but would be grateful for a bit more info....

You need aol or perhaps rhuby to comment on this ruty
Where's the nearest town? Bergerac, Riberac?
It's a very popular destination so I would have thought it was prettier than average and with lots to do...

Hiya Marina!

Ruty - Aquitaine is huge - I have been to the Lot region (Agen, the amusement park thing) and to visit people that live in a far flung village (winter, twas muddy and foggy and a bit bleak) but I know nothing about holidaying in the region. Now if you came further up, say to Arcachon, not only would I have lots of info, but I would also invite myself to coffee....

The ads for the Lot always have lots of sunflowers. Have you had a google for the tourist board there? Do you want me to look for you?

How old are your children?

Are you really handy for Arcachon aol - you do know we're in a caravan courtesy of Mumsnet (yes they clubbed together to send me somewhere I could not post for a week) near Royan in June?

LOL Marina. We are staying near Duras. I didn't have much hope for anyone seeing this thread so posted in chat - chococlatequeen knows the area so i'm really excited about it now. Thanks for ideas. I tried to google but didn't get much but feel better about it now.
