Wifi on holiday

I may be asking a really simple question and Google has just confused me. I want to have wi fi on holiday - Isle of Wight.

(I have Virgin Media at home, no VM on IOW although not sure if that means anything anyway.)

What can I do to get wi fi on holiday? I will need just one week. Thanks in advance.

Please can anyone advise?

There is no wi fi at our accommodation.

Why not pay for mobile wi-fi for a week, surely that would be possible?

Ok I did not know about mobile wi fi... will look up now. Thx

If you have mobile data on your mobile then set it up as a portable WiFi hotspot for your tablet.

Depends whether or not your accommodation has wifi.
Do you have mobile data you use on your phone? If you do, you could use that as a hotspot. But it will use up your data and cost accordingly.

When you say mobile data on my phone do you mean can I get the internet on my phone? If so, the answer is yes. How can I use my phone as a hotspot?? I get warnings about my data use so not sure if this is the best option.

Thank you to everyone responding with help.

Your phone provider can usually add on data for you for a one off payment. How to set up your phone as a hotspot depends on what phone it is. This is the only way you will get internet for your tablet unless the tablet can take a sim card and you can put a pay as you go in it.

Thank you Delilah! I will take my tablet to a shop tomorrow and get pay as you go sim.
Love your name!

I have bought a cheap mobile modem (in 3G not 4G) and an extra pay-as-you-go sim for those kind of occasions, then everybody in the family may use it. It sets up a local wi-fi and connects to the internet over the 3G network. If you have a laptop you could have a mobile modem on a USB. Mine is not, it's a stand-alone thing and looks like a small white soap and connects to the laptops, tablets and phones by wi-fi. I think it's a Huawei made one. I've had it for years but this year it has been collecting dust as I didn't really travel anywhere. Anyway, if you decide to buy one, make sure the modem in question either unlocked or locked to your preferred network, this has to do with what type of sim card you may insert in the modem. The simplest solution however is that you add extra surf onto your mobile phone and either surf on that, directly, or set it up as a wi-fi hotspot as someone already pointed out. I'm sure there are tutorials on YouTube...
