Liquids/electrical items in hand luggage, what is the current situation?

Flying tomorrow to Spain I've been on the airline's website and they state that you are no allowed any sharp objects or lighters in your handluggage and no firearms at all anywhere in the plane funnily enough.

However I realise that the airline website and the information given out at the airport don't always concur.

I want to take my GHDs, in their little carry bag along with some products, shampoo etc (not because I am going to be shampooing my hair in the lavs or anything just that it is a handy place to store them), kids gameboys, DH's camera and two mobile phones. Are these type of things generally allowed now?

DH now talking laptop too, don't really want to have to check that into the hold.

I don't think GHD's would be allowed - I'm a devotee of them myself and am putting them into the main luggage when I go abroad next week. Have you gone onto the BAA website - has loads of detailed info about airport security

Doh, didn't think of BAA, only went to the airline website, will give that a try.

Wow, thanks Nikki, got all the info I need now. They are still wary of liquids and they do allow gameboys etc but perhaps the straighteners would be pushing it a bit, so will put them in the big case and hope they will be OK.

In my opinion tho, GHD's deserve a special case of their very own with VIP stamped on it! I love mine to bits!!! Start the day looking like Einstein and am reasonably normal by time have GHD'd!!!!
