The Barbara Hepworth museum in St Ives. Lovely, in her old house, very sweet. I loved that wee town! The beach is also very good...

Lost gardens of Heligan
Trebah Gardens.
St Michael's mount
Sennen (lovely beach)
Minack Theatre

At St. Ives - the beach, and possibly Tate if the kids are amenable. if you can get far from the madding crowd and up a little way onto the coastal path, so much the better, as you get some fab views of the coast.

Penzance - if the weather is nice they have an outdoor swimming pool. Walk to Mousehole is very nice. Open top bus trip to Lands End is also a good lazy way of seeing the scenery (Lands End itself has a bit of a tacky visitor centre, so you probably wouldn't want to spend vast amounts of time there).

eden project is a must, its fantastic.... regardless of the weather

Don't they have a Tate Gallery down there, or am I thinking of somewhere else .

I second Trebah Gardens, they are lovely and have quite an unusual "wild" feel to them.

pansypants · 28/03/2007 20:57

agree m27. mousehole is typical enid blyton scenery and the harbour is a wonderful way to spend the day. Buy fresh crab sarnies fron the tea shop,, or go to the local pub on the front for lunch,, bliss, so jealous

Agree that the Eden Project is great, but it's a long way from Penzance (about 1hr 45 mins I think).

Porthminster Beach Cafe - on the beach at St Ives - really fab, but you'll probably need to book.
Trebah is wonderful. Heligan too.
Loads of great beaches nearby - Gwithian is good
Land's End is vile
