Albufiera over Christmas

We're looking for a week away over Christmas, just DP and me. Never been to Portugal before. Has anybody been at that time of year and can give their opinion? I understand it will be quiet, but don't want it to be closed and dead.

We went in November a couple of years ago. Weather was pleasant but apparently we were lucky..it was 18, 19c. Plenty of bars and restaurants were open (and karaoke) I'd imagine it possibly gets a bit busier Xmas week? It was nice. I've been to albufeira a few times..beautiful beach. Old town is lovely, nice food and cheap drinks offers £1 a pint.

we were there about 15 years ago over New Year. Grim, like Swindon by the Sea. But it might have improved.
