Ireland with older lady

Trying to book a short trip to Ireland as a surprise for a friend (pseudo-granny). She lives in the north west and I'd collect her from there, south Lancashire way. Sure it's been asked before (can't see threads though).... how on earth do you get to Ireland? I'd want to take her to Dublin and then some places we'd need a car for (I've checked that bit).

I have a car but the ferries are crazy expensive! I had no idea! Or we could fly and hire a car but that's got bad press at the moment...

Any tips would be really gratefully received!!

I feel your pain.
The ferries are soooo expensive compared to crossings to France
How long are you planning to stay for as this is a key factor.
Flights to Dublin are good prices we always hire a cat - we go to the west- and have no problems so far
Not sure what exactly you are looking fir but v happy to put my penny in

Thanks!! :) :) :)

Say three nights, doing Dublin and then driving to Sligo - l'll have a look at car hire prices. Just worried about getting the car - last time I did in an airport it took three hours :(
