Hey, just wondered if anyone preferred one or the other with children. Many thanks

Charmouth would be better imo. There is the information centre which runs fossil walks (which get booked up) and you are guaranteed to find at least some belemnites as they are everywhere! We went last week with dds aged 5 and 3. 3 yo not interested and just played in the sand, but 5yo found lots of fossils and I found a large rock with lots of ammonites in it. Need to work out how to excavate it properly.

Charmouth is easier to get to than Lyme and the car park is more accessible.

I took a school group to Charmouth recently (7&8yo) and they loved it - found loads of ammonites and lovely shop with lots of v cheap (50p) fossils for anyone who didn't find any.
Hope you have a lovely time.

Charmouth was lovely. Our group leader made sure kids were at the front and could hear her and she herded everyone off for a toilet visit before we headed off down the beach. We're hoping to have a another trip next year. I'm The kids are hoping to find a prized ichthyosaurus spine disc.

When I looked at the Lyme Regis walk a couple of years ago it wasn't suitable for under 8's. So not at all family friendly. This may have changed now.
