Big anniversary so we're looking for three days no where more than 4 hours flying time out of London. Budget is healthy at about £1000-1500 for three nights but including flights and meals. We never so rarely do this that I just feel completely overwhelmed. Currently thinking Balerics or Amalfi coast in August.

It's going to be hot so somewhere with a pool and sundowners is what we're after. Not fussed about beaches or spa but do like a view. I'm on holiday so no self catering = a hotel or B&B.

A nice town to mooch around and a bit of culture is a plus. I want to get dressed up and go out to a bar or a mind blowing restaurant.

Dh's requirements are simple: good food, cocktails, wine, siestas and shagging HmmGrin

Inspire me please :)

I'd go to nice. You can also then see Monaco and Monte Carlo. I can't help with accommodation as when we went it was on a cruise but I'd love to go back.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 25/07/2017 08:43

San Sebastián?

WhatHaveIFound · 25/07/2017 08:46

Nice is nice Grin and you could include a day trip to Monaco as it's just a short train journey away.

donajimena · 25/07/2017 08:46

I'd go to nerja on the Costa del sol. Very charming but lively (though its not clubby brits on tour lively) beautiful beaches, great food.

mirmc · 25/07/2017 11:36

I second Nice, but stay in Villefranche sur Mer, just outside. Stunning views and amazing restaurants. The hotel Welcome is really romantic. You can jump on the train and go for lunch or dinner in Cannes, Antibes or Monaco. Endless possibilities. Loads of flights to Nice, airport closeby to maximise time.

I second Nice, loads of cheap flights, short flight time and near the airport to maximise time away. I'd stay in Villefranche sur Mer just outside though. It's stunning. The Hotel Welcone is really romantic. Loads of beautiful restaurants there, but you can jump on the bus 10 minutes to Nice old town or go the train for lunch dinner in Cannes, Antibes, Monaco etc.

Sorry how do I delete?

thisismadness77 · 25/07/2017 11:47

I've just done the same for next month, big birthday but smaller budget. We are having three nights in jersey :)

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 26/07/2017 11:00

Thank you I'll check these out. I had discounted Nice because my French isn't very good and we're only going for a couple of days so trips are probably out due to time limitations. Although I quite fancy a trip round a bay in a boat somewhere that still leaves plenty of time for loafing about Wink

Jersey is lovely madness. Hope you have a super time!

Greece? Santorini, Skiathos...? So many places to choose from. Croatian coast near Dubrovnik? Italian coast bear Venice? Spanish cities such as Seville or Madrid? Sardinia? Corsica? So many places!!

Ijustwanttodrinkmytea · 26/07/2017 20:47

Sorrento? You could do a boat trip to Capri.

singthatsongagain · 26/07/2017 21:26

The Amalfi coast. Easy flight to Naples, choose a hotel on the cliffs with amazing views, great food, lovely wine, boat trips along the coast.

NotPennysBoat · 26/07/2017 22:13

Santorini ticks all your boxes!

thisismadness77 · 26/07/2017 22:58

Thanks :) I can't wait.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/07/2017 08:50

We have been looking at Sorrento. Well I have. Dh is doing naff all Hmm

Really like the sound of San Sebastián too.

Just need someone to tell me which hotel, restaurants and places of interest to book and I'll be sorted. Or for someone to take my dc out for the day so I can browse properly! Bloody school holidays Wink

Porto in Portugal is apparently lovely.

shineybut · 27/07/2017 09:46

Maison La Minervetta ticks a lot of your boxes.
I often look at the cheaper end of Smith hotels for inspiration

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 27/07/2017 17:57

Maison La Minervetta looks great but sadly no availability for our dates. Or August :(

Not having much luck with Sorrento but San Sebastián is looking VERY promising. May have to start a new thread if I book as we had such a great time in Copenhagen using MNers recommendations (esp Ruby cocktail bar - do go!).

The hotel Bristol in sprrento is supposed to be good - don't book a package though.

I'd recommend Barcelona- fabulous foodie places and cocktails, marina / barceloneta for swanky cocktails. Old town for pottering. And there is even a beach. Avoid the ramblas.

Nice is great, a little expensive. Hotel negresco looks amazing and has riviera views. go for a cocktail even if you don't stay. €1 Euro buses all along the coast. Beautiful old town. Never get in a cab - they will rip you off. Bus to grasse and the home of perfume for a memory to take home. Train to Monaco for glamorous days. Avoid Cannes. Eve by bus for beautiful old town and cobbled streets. Stunning views.

Have fun. Smile
