Christmas Day in Florida

We're going to be in Florida this Christmas and I am wondering what on earth we should do on Christmas Day. We will be road tripping around the state and haven't planned a route yet so could pretty much be anywhere. I would really rather avoid Orlando. Has anyone been anywhere else in Florida on Christmas Day that isn't totally dead?

Any of the decent sized hotels that cater to tourists pretty much anywhere in Florida will be decorated and have a Christmas brunch or dinner. My recommendation would be the Tampa Bay area or the Northeastern part of the state like Ponte Vedra Beach. We are all very much alive here in Florida on Christmas Day. 🌞

Thanks! I don't celebrate Christmas so I'm not specifically worried about Christmas dinner. More just looking for the place where there's most likely to be something going on, bars open etc.

Hotel bars will be open.

Cinemas and quite a few restaurants should be open

Thanks but I really don't want to be in Orlando!

Well unless you are in touristy type places then you could very well find places closed for the one day.

RusholmeRuffian · 04/08/2017 08:21

I realise that and am happy to go to "touristy" places but I'm not planning on going to Orlando at all. I was looking for suggestions on anywhere else in Florida. I'm sure we'll find something to do!
