Selling our car privately - any tips/ good websites & other plcaes to advertise it ?

In the past we have part exchanged etc so have never sold a car privately.

Any advice and best places to advertise /good websites ( not ebay ).

Any bad experiences selling privately ?

We used autotrader and the car sold quite quickly.

What car are you selling? We are looking to replace our car.

1996 Volvo V40 .

We're in Surrey , so will check out the local papers.

We are looking for something smaller.

Loot is also good as you can advertise for free.
