Days out recommendations 2 hours drive from Purbeck area of Dorset

I am looking for days out ideas for me and two DCs about 2 hours from where we live, we have pretty much done Dorset so looking further afield. Would like DH to come with us but that is dependent on treatment for cancer hence not getting away for a holiday.

DC's are DD11 loves history, has ASD, DS 9 very active

Portsmouth dockyard is on our list, cheddar gorge, Stourhead, we have National Trust cards, oh and Crealy park in Devon

NT - Mottisfont is lovely and they usually have a good holiday trail. The Vyne is really nice too (might be a bit far).

Hillier Gardens nr Romsey is lovely.

New Forest is fab.

We went to Stourhead NT at the weekend, was amazing! Didn't go in the house but the grounds were stunning. Highly recommend it!

What about Beer Quarry in Dorset? Very interesting from a historical point of view, as you can see the differing tool marks/quarrying techniques in the rockface going right back to Roman times. The guide when we visited was excellent & it was a surprisingly good tour.
