Ile de Re

Anyone been to Ile de Re? Where would you say is the best place to base yourself on the island? We have a 2 and 5 year old...
Our choices are a bit limited and seem to mainly be La Couarde and La Flotte at the moment. What do you think these as bases on the island?

Have not been myself but my brother and sil (who is French) go there regularly with their children, similar age to yours, and always have a fabulous time. It is very child-friendly I believe.
