We're planning on taking our 8 year old DD to Bath for the day.

Please can you recommend the best places to visit while we're there.

Thanks.

The American museum is not Actually in bath it's out of town (in case you're looking for it!) my 8 year olds haven't read any Jane Austen so she has limited appeal to them.

Roman Baths is excellent, and children get a separate audio guide.

There are some excellent bookshops and I always look out for the stall that sells magic tricks, the guy's patter is excellent.

Victoria park is amazing she would love that, so big!

Just re-read my post - it's all excellent in Bath, apparently! I'm going next month, I must be excited.

Victoria art gallery has a dragons exhibition on for the summer. Free entry.

The Holbourne museum is at the end of great Putney street and backs on to Sydney gardens and the canal. Free entry.

Marshfirld ice cream shop near Abbey square sells the best ice cream imo. Made locally. Sit on s bench at Abbey square and enjoy the buskers.

Pultney gardens is a lovely spot for a picnic.

Lots of nice places to eat around kingsmead square/theatre as well as along George street.

We live near bath and my 9 year old CD loves the Roman baths, the fashion museum and Victoria park.

Definitely visit the Roman Baths, the audio tour is brilliant. The Pump Room next door is well worth a visit for tea and cakes. It is very grand, a trio playing and you can taste the spa water.

From the Circus you can walk along to the Royal Crescent. There is a museum at No.1. From there you could walk through Victoria Park to the massive play area. Alternatively there is a great crazy golf course by the tennis courts.

For peace and quiet take a river trip towards Batheaston. It goes from near Pultney Bridge.
