Is Paris at Easter too crowded or are lots of places shut?

I had a quick google and Easter Friday is not a bank holiday but Easter Monday is. I just wondered if would it be better going the other week of school easter holidays.

Thanks

We went at Easter a few years ago. It didn't seem too busy but it was a year when the winter had been very long & there had been snow in the UK the week before...
My dcs were too young to appreciate too many museums so I prebooked one thing I particularly wanted to go & we just strolled around the city apart from that.

I think we travelled home early on the Monday so can't say if lots of places were closed that day

Do you mean Good Friday?

I posted the same Q about 18 months ago, and the conclusion was that a lot of places would be closed. We flew out on Easter Monday - no probs - only to discover that a lot of places (Louvre, Pompidou Centre) are closed on Tuesdays anyway!

Look up individual attractions, they may have different opening times for the Easter Weekends like closing when they would normally open.

Also, while Good Friday may not be a public holiday, it is one of the top Christian ones and I could imagine churches like Notre Dame may be closed or have severely restricted access due to mass. The same with Easter Sunday.

We went in May one year and had Ascension day in the week we were there. Being used to everything being open in the UK it came quite as a surprise how much was closed on general touristic attractions.

Thanks everyone that's really helpful - I hadn't realised about the Tuesday closings too.

What time is Easter next year? We went to Paris in early spring one year and it was absolutely freezing.

Shivering behind one of the feet of the Eiffel Tower to escape a howling gale was not a fun time.

Oh yes. We went Easter 2016, when Easter Monday was the last Monday of March and it was freezing cold and rained most of the time!

Good Friday is not a bank holiday in France so banks, shops, offices are all open.

It's end of March again - it's my birthday too so I often used to go away and the variation in weather in Europe at that time is huge. Vienna and Lisbon were boiling one year - had to buy sunglasses and Istanbul was freezing - had to buy hat scarf and gloves and wear all my laters all the time like Heidi in the story.

Be careful about cafe / Resto opening hours. Even in Paris many places serve from 12-2 and then only drinks during the afternoon before the evening service.
