Croatia for short break? Or where else?

Wanting to go on a short break (3-5 days) with good friend in September and we're thinking about Croatia. Any ideas where?

Ideally we want a relaxed resort with restaurants and the odd place to explore or a boat trip. Not mad nightlife, relaxing by a pool with a book during the day.

Budget can be flexible - can't afford 5* but we're too old for hostels!

Any suggestions?

A work pal went there on a long weekend. More inland ( near one of the NP) had a great time. Doable for a long weekend
We are off to Brac for 10 nights soon. Never been before & im really looking forward to it

I stayed on an island called lopud which a 40 min ferry from Dubrovnik. It was absolutely perfect postcard scenery, infinity pool, and so relaxing. The name of the hotel was lafodia - not sure about the cost now as it was 5 years ago and I believe it's become pretty popular - but it was reasonable at the time. We got the ferry to Dubrovnik one day for a change and there was loads to see. There were also many boat trips on offer.

From what I've heard you can't go too far wrong with Croatia! I would love to go back

Cavtat. We went last month, lovely place. Ten minutes from dubrovnik airport and regular ferry taxis to dubrovnik old town.

Hotel Lapad, Dubrovnik. Lovely hotel with a great pool, and the old town just an easy 10 minute bus ride away.

Went to Pula a couple of years ago. Really nice old town with plenty of restaurants and loads of nice beaches nearby.

I was just going to say Pula! Lovely town, easy to get to. There's also Trogir which is 10 minutes from Split airport making it viable for a short break - it's one of the medieval towns so there's lots of interest to see in the evenings, with lots of hotels with swimming pools just outside.
