Chessington in the holidays?

I'm considering booking a short break at Chessington for me, DH and our 3 DS (7, 5, 3) in the summer holidays, probably Tuesday 22nd-Wednesday 23rd August.

Am I insane? Grin

We took the DC out of school for a few days to do Legoland a couple of years ago and the lack of queues was fab. Am I letting myself in for a world of pain by going in August? I'm kidding myself that it might not be too bad on a Tuesday/Wednesday...

Thanks for any insights!

It will be busy. No question. But if you're planning a few days, and can acc or you won't get on everything each day, then you can still have a great time.
Download the map and plan an area to focus on each day.

Thanks Gazelda. We've decided to go for it. We're considering Orlando next year anyway so this will be a good test for all of us!

Decide which of the big rides you really want to do. Get there first thing on the first day and do a couple of them. Then do a couple more big ticket items first thing on the second day (making full use of any free extra time you get as a hotel guest). For the rest of the time do quieter rides, watch shows and look at animals.

Orlando in August is a hot humid oven.
Chessington will not prepare you! 😂

Winifred, great advice thank you!

2014newme, thanks for pointing that out. I am aware Orlando and Chessington are not the same thing. However if we end up ready to kill each other after 2 days in Chessington, then it's a pretty good bet that we are Not Ready for Florida.
