We are thinking of travelling to Barbados in June for 2 weeks. We have a 4 and a 3 yr old and a 19 month old.

Looking for good hotels prefereably with kidz clubs, spa etc...... Does anybody have any ideas or recommendations?

We are going to the Almond Casuarina Beach in August with our dds. It seems to have all of those things. However, it is being re-furbed at the moment and isn't opening until 1 July. However, we have also heard from friends who have been there, that their sister resort, the Almond Beach Club is pretty good for families too.
Good luck with your search.

Thank you - I had actually looked at that one, so I shall now resume my search....

We have stayed at the Turtle Beach Resort and the kids club was very good. I believe that it starts from age 3. There is no creche though as far as I recall. I think that the Almond Beach Club is for adults - the Almond Beach Resort is for families.
May I be cheeky ask why you have chosen Barbados? Have you been to other islands in the Caribbean? Sorry to be nosy ... just wondering

Hi - no we have never been to the Carib, we don't necessarily have to go to Barbados - we were just being lazy really!!!

Hi peainapod
Okay, well Barbados is generally considered to be one of the most expensive Caribbean islands which is what made me ask. I presume that you have ploughed through some brochures but I suggest that you head to a website like Caribbean 0n Line.com and Fodors.com where you will find a discussion forum for each island in the Caribbean and one about the weather. June is the beginning of the rainy season (don't let that put you off) so do some research about which islands are drier in June. The most common destinations from the UK are probably Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico and broadly speaking these islands are probably more competitively priced and can be booked on a charter flight/package tour basis. There is a huge choice of hotels just in one of those destinations.

Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia and perhaps the Bahamas are also widely available and then the smaller islands like Tobago, the Cayman Islands, St Kitts, Grenada, British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos, St Marten, Aruba and so on are offered on a scheduled flight basis through Virgin Holidays, British Airways Holidays, Kuoni and other more specialised tour operators.

We've been lucky enough to visit Barbados, Antigua, the Bahamas, Mexico and the Dominican Republic so if you have any questions feel free to CAT me.

Thanks copy - you certainly have done research!!

I shall look into the websites and let you know. A couple of places in The Bahamas and St Kitts have already come back saying not this year but we have vacancies for 2008!! Are people really that organised????

Pardon me themildmanneredjanitor! Of course Mexico is not an island I should have said Caribbean 'destination' but it was late when I posted .. yawn

I'm sure you will find availability in June apeainapod as it's term time. If you have found a particular hotel that you like then check a number of tour operators - sometimes they each have their own allocation of rooms so it could be booked with one company but available through another. You could also try pricing it yourself by looking for flights and accommodation separately.

I hope you have an amazing trip.

Don't forget to go to check on Tripadvisor for hotel reviews from previous guests.

We went for the first half of our honeymoon - gorgeous gorgeous. We actually rented a barn conversion which had it's own pool, yoga studio etc. It's not what you asked for in the OP, but just an alternative suggestion.

It's called Oughterson House, I can't remember the webs address sorry. But there are loads of private rentals through www.holiday-rentals.com if you were interested in going that route.
