Heading there in 2 weeks time for my 40th. Very excited. Anyone got any recommendations of things to do whilst we are there? Got 3 kids 11, 9 and 5.
Grateful for any tips. Staying not far from mahon with a car if that helps :)
Thank you in advance 😚

Well, my recommendation would be to play in the sea, in the pool and on the beach. To get another adult to watch them whilst you read a good book and relax in the sunshine Smile

Menorca isn't a very large island, and you can drive from one end to the other in less than an hour. I would recommend a day in Cuitadella, the old capital of the island; lovely shops and restaurants, even a toy shop!

Cala Galdana is a big horseshoe shaped bay with a lovely beach. Be aware that hire of two sun beds and a parasol is quite expensive, it was 18 euro last year. There are beaches closer to Mahon as well.

Cuitadella is lovely, especially down by the harbour. And while I don't usually recommend a trip to Burger King, the view from the top floor terrace is stunning!

I love Fornells for a pretty little fishing village with lovely fish restaurants.

Son Bou has a lovely long sandy beach, with a great floating inflatable assault course that the children might enjoy.

In Mahon itself, the children might like the harbour tour in a glass bottomed boat, and you might enjoy the gin factory tasting!

For me it's all about getting in the car and going to the little coves.

There is a beach probably about 15 minutes from Mahon called Binidali. It is just the most beautiful cove. Its so safe for swimming, the snorkelling is excellent and also has rocks on either side for climbing. There is also a smaller cove that is to the left if this when you look out to sea...if I remember rightly it's not signposted but there is a little space for cars and you walk the path through the bushes. This then brings you out to a beautiful little beach and even in July there were only a handful of locals there.

There is also a little village near to the airport and Binidali called Sant Climent. It has a little square with a couple of restaurants that were full of locals. When we were there It was the cheese festival and always full of locals.

I also preferred Es Castell over Mahon for a meal and evening walk.

Try to keep off the beaten track, away from the holidaymakers and you'll love it.

There is a fab little known water park and splash park at Castillo Menorca that is great for your ages - it has a lovely splash area for little ones, a pool with flume (not big or fast), trampolines, zip wire, tight-rope, swings, sand area with toys. It's on the main road, part of the big Lladro shop. We discovered it by accident and been back to it the last 2 years. Entry is about €6 for adults/€4 children (can't remember exactly). As it's on top of the hill there is always a lovely breeze which is great in the height of summer. We love it there!
