Check out Hotel Zoe in Mitte...only opened a year or so ago and we stayed there recently and loved it. Very trendy and chic with an attached gin bar and we got it so cheaply. Fabulous breakfasts. The area is very central and lovely to wander around.

We stayed here last December- it's a ten minute SBahn train in to Alexanderplatz and is very modern and unusual. Breakfast was fantastic, great bar, on the river and the staff were all young and enthusuastic. It's not the sort of place we normally stay in as we usually go for older more traditional style, but we chose it as it was near the music arena we were attending and we'd certainly go back.

I've only ever stayed in the Intercontinental in Budapester Stras. It's very central and next to the zoo.

NH hotel in Friedrichstrasse right beside the train station from Schoenfeld airport, walking distance to most areas of tourist interest.

We stayed at the Hotel Adlon for DH's 40th- absolutely lovely but quite £££.

The Scandic at Potsdamerplatz is nice - good value and central location.

This place is amazing if you want luxury (it's a little out of the way though, takes about 20 mins to get into centre)
