London for babies - from Germany

Hello Mums,
we are trying to visit London at the end of July.
My son is 9 months old, the kids from my girlfriend are 3 years and 11 months.
Is it a problem to use the tube with buggies?
Do you have any tips for us to spend our time, maybe in the parks, in the zoo or anything else...?
Do you have any insider tips for buying children's clothes?
Any do's and don'ts?
We will stay for just two full days in the Thistle Tower Hotel.
Thank you very much and sorry for mistakes in my English.
Tanja

Hi Tanja

I think London is great for kids and even though yours are quite young still there is lots to do and see - hopefully you'll have a great time!

You do need to be organised though. Don't know if you've visited before without kids but I find visitors are always amazed at just how big London really is, so travel is key. Unfortunately, the Tube and 'jump-on, jump-off' buses are a bit of a nightmare with buggies. Access is pretty awful as a rule. I would recommend a sling for the littlest one! Try www.tfl.gov.uk for an access map of the Tube.

Great places to go - all the parks are fab, London Zoo (kids under 5 free I think) is wonderful, places like Covent Garden etc have lots going on and are great for people-watching when it all gets a bit much! You can get buggies on the London Eye easily too. Ummm, can't think of anymore at the moment but am sure you'll get lots of suggestions!
