Honeymoon in November suggestions?

Hi everyone! Looking for suggestions for a honeymoon destination for one week (from the UK, north of England airports - ideally flying out from Manchester on Monday 30th October).

We're not keen to just lie on a beach for a week as both of us tend to get a bit bored and restless, but would like somewhere with nice warm weather, with lots to see and do.

In terms of flight time, probably 6-8 hours would be max, given that it's only for a week. And seeing as how the wedding is taking huge chomps out of our savings, max budget would be £800 each.

Would love suggestions and recommendations from all you seasoned travellers out there please!

Canaries?
New York would be ideal but probably beyond budget
European City break? If you aren't bothered about weather
London stay in a good hotel?

Hi 2014NewMe - ooooo New York might be a possibility. In fact I hadn't really considered USA generally but now I'm starting to wonder how much flights to Orlando would be at that time of year . . . maybe do the theme parks and drive down to Miami for a couple of days . . .

Orlando is great, look on the dibb forum for lots of moneymaking tips like flying indirect and staying offsite etc. Otherwise £800 each could make it hard to achieve as Park tickets are expensive

We went to the Dominican Republic for our November honeymoon and there was lots to do. Lots of brilliant excursions and trips out.

Bobbiepin · 01/07/2017 11:46

No useful suggestions (we went to Cancun for a week and sat by a pool and ate like kings) but a little reminder to check for weather wherever you go. You don't want to end up somewhere tropical in the middle of monsoon/hurricane season!

ZiggyForever · 01/07/2017 11:52

Yeah, 2014, we might have to bite the bullet and up our budget!

Had discounted places like Dominican Republic and Cancun because of lengthy flights for just a week, but maybe I should look into them . . . especially if there are things to do.

Oh this is exciting Grin

Bobbiepin absolutely - no point in going on a cheap as chips holiday if it's monsoon season!

Madeira

BumblebeeTea · 01/07/2017 11:56

Dubai? Lots to do there and the flight isn't too bad

PutThatPomBearBack · 01/07/2017 12:09

Thailand or Bali?

Bobbiepin · 01/07/2017 13:26

There isnt a huge amount to do in Cancun unless you want long day trips, which we didn't as only there for a week but we got an all inclusive resort right on the beach and didn't leave once. It was heaven!

If you want to do things in a city, and there is somewhere you really really want to go, I would just go there regardless of weather.

DH and I went to Italy in August - all the reviews of the place we went said don't go in August Grin We did nearly melt from the heat but we honestly didn't want to go anywhere else more and loved it.

Some places like Venice, Florence or Rome would be great in November as the hordes of tourists won't be there and you will get far more for your money.

2014newme · 01/07/2017 13:43

Dominican Republic isn't great people only go there because it's cheap.
Mexico is wonderful outside cancun but you would need to spend more and it's an 11 hour flight

itsbetterthanabox · 01/07/2017 13:54

Place marking.
We are looking to go on ours same time of year but for 2 weeks.

Nononononono33 · 01/07/2017 14:01

We went to Singapore in January (not Nov) and it had absolutely everything to do including beaches. Weather doesn't change all that much at any time. Might be a bit longer flying but I'd certainly go there for a week (we did 12 nights). We got a honeymoon upgrade at our hotel; looking at things like TripAdvisor it seems a lot of people get fancy hotel upgrades.

scorchioinJune · 02/07/2017 22:47

Do you have to leave on Monday ( wedding in the Saturday I guess) ? I ask because a cruise might be good if you are the restless sort. There is one for £1,200 pp with a balcony going round the Camaries including flights out there. Or a cheap as chips balcony cabin round the med plus stay in Portugal for £579 www.iglucruise.com/msc-magnifica/29th-october-2017_c150120-balcony-cabin

ZiggyForever · 03/07/2017 12:30

Oh I didn't think of a cruise! Great idea!

We went to Barbados for a week in November for our honeymoon. It was about £3k for both of us but we upgraded flights and 4* all inclusive hotel so you could donit cheaper than we did. Lovely island lots of little towns to discover. Plently to see over a week. My favourite place I've ever been to.

Blueflowers2011 · 18/07/2017 15:53

Bit of a difficult one as 6-8hrs and hot is hard to find..

  • NY
  • Dubai (read up, does not suit all tastes)
  • Caribbean (be picky on the island, not much to see and do other than beaches imo). Europe (for me) is better.
  • Thailand - if you can stretch to a bit of a longer flight, you cannot go wrong with this place! Cheap once there too but if you dont fancy it this time around, save it for another time def!
Italy - so much to see - wont be hot but a lot to do and see, and eat wonderful, amazing food of course. You could tick off all of those very famous landmarks, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Colleseum, pretty cities like Florence, Amalfi Coast, Venice, Rome, the list is endless.
  • Southern Spain - some parts still stay warm in November so if it appeals check it out.
Dowser · 18/07/2017 19:26

Fly to canaries . Stay overnight in Santa Cruz and pick up a cruise from there.

greendale17 · 18/07/2017 19:28

Sri Lanka

ineedaholidaynow · 18/07/2017 19:37

We went to Mauritius for our November honeymoon. Think flight time might be slightly longer than you want but as it is pretty much due South there is very little time difference.

To be fair we did quite a bit of sitting on a beach but did go on a few day trips.

SwearyG0dmother · 18/07/2017 19:43

We went to Morocco for our November honeymoon. Three days at a kasbah in the Atlas Mountains and then a week at a riad in Marrakech. It was probably too long in Marrakech to be honest and I'd prefer 3 or 4 days as we did run out of things we wanted to do, but did plenty of museums/old buildings/gardens and souks. You can book it all yourself rather than do a package and the flight is only 3 1/2 hours, and there's no time difference which is a bonus.

Steph999999 · 18/07/2017 19:48

Does it have to be warm? I have had a great holiday that time of year up in Iceland and have friends that have done Norway and Finland. There's the northern lights, blue lagoon, various tours of the island, husky sledding etc...
