Ryanair luggage allowance pooling

We're flying with Ryanair, and I've booked 5 suitcases - two 20kg and three 15kg. That was cheaper than 4 x 20kg as the children's were half-price.

It says on the website that you can pool the allowance "as long as the total paid checked baggage allowance is not exceeded". So we can have a 23kg suitcase and a 12kg suitcase for example.

But I really only want to take 4 suitcases, with the 85kg split between them. Does anyone know if they'll allow that? or are they going to say we can only have 70kg cos we've only got the 4 cases?

The way it reads you should be Ok. I would ask them a live chat question and get it emailed so you have the answer in writing.

Or you could ask them on twitter?

We flew with them recently and they replied to me quickly. A few people on our flight had issues and one used their response on twitter to back them up and it worked.

I found the live chat, they were quite efficient (for Ryanair). I was thinking the only way to get in touch would be to spend 3 hours on call-waiting.

Anyway, yes we're allowed fewer suitcases. Max for each is 30kg.

But I've got a screenshot of the live chat printed out, because I don't trust them!

Good luck carrying all that!!

A 30kg suitcase will be difficult to move around, even if it has wheels. Are you sure you need so much stuff?

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 11/07/2017 15:03

Well it works out as 17kg each for a week away in a cold climate, that doesn't seem too much. And two of the children can wheel a case each and the youngest can carry his own hand luggage so I think we'll be fine.
We won't have a 30kg case, that's just Ryanair's limit.
