Places to stay in Paris - accommodation and nice areas

Any recommendations for 3-5 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids? I started looking at 2 apartments but they seemed very expensive for what they were. We don't mind sharing a hotel bedroom and I had a quick look at ibis hotels and they seemed more reasonable.

Also I've been to Paris twice but years ago so not sure of nice areas to stay - things change quite lot. For example I remember Les Halles being vibrant in the 80s, very run down in the 90s but may be in the up again by now!

We don't need any amenities except wifi. Kids are 11 and 14.

Thanks

The Astotel chain is reasonably priced and they get good reviews. There are a few dotted around the city. We stayed in the St Augustin last year.

They look lovely but couldn't find any family rooms and not sure we could afford 2 room.

Oh didn't realise they don't have family rooms. it was just dd and I when we went. Hope you find something.

We recently stayed in the Hotel Palais Bourbon in the 7th district. The hotel has family rooms and it's a nice quiet area, it's near Hotel des Invalides and the Rodin Museum.

I used an American company to book an apartment a few years ago www.vacationinparis.com/index.php (we live in U.K.)

It wasn't particularly cheap but cheaper than two hotel rooms. The one we got was perfect - just off Rue Montergueil which is a very interesting area & central so we were able to walk everywhere.

The keys were posted to us beforehand - so no trying to meet up with a landlord on arrival etc.

I think I phoned them rather than booked through the website eventually as it was quicker than waiting to hear back if somewhere was available

we stayed in the lux hotel picpus. lovely area and right across was a metro stop which was on a good line for accessing most things. it wasn't very dear either but clean and comfortable

Weebitty - that one looks very reasonable. How long was the journey to the main tourist places?
