anyone know of the best deals on car hire in Florida? Is it better to book in the UK or wait until you get there?
Also, someone mentioned about insurance being extra and expensive - I thought it had to be included if you hire a car?

TIA

Hi,
We are going to Florida in Oct and have booked a full size car for 3 weeks. We once left car hire until we got to the States and it cost us twice as much. You have to have extra insurance, you get the basic but it is not enough should you have an accident. Most companies offer an all inclusive package so you know where you stand. We shopped around and really they were all much the same.

We have car hire and insurance booked though out flight company - Travel City Direct. The car hire, etc. wasn't too badly priced and pretty competitive.

Howver, we have just had a real sting - the car seat hire. This has recently gone up from $4 a day to $10 a day!!! So check that out first. We are now going to buy a cheap seat at the nearest Wallmart, having hired the car seat for half a day - 1 day max.
