We have still to book our summer holiday this year. We're fairly flexible on location, somewhere in Europe on the beach.

Dh fancies Croatia which I have looked into but the flights are difficult (Gatwick).

Our criteria:

Nice hotel with good pool(s)
Two rooms or a family suite
Fly from Luton, Stansted or Heathrow (NOT Gatwick)

I don't know where to start. Have looked at Trivago, Expedia etc but you have to search by resort. Bit difficult if you don't know where you're going!

Croatia is lovely and dirt cheap to eat out. Lots of Italian food. Try 'on the beach' website too.

Try Jet2holidays from Stansted. Look in the deals section - doesn't have to be late.

You can set dates, departure airport and party size/ages and see what it comes up with and then filter by location/price/facilities etc.

Thanks for the website recommendations, will try them.

It's times like these that I miss having a high street travel agent to go in to and let them do all the work!

Thinking now of the Amalfi Coast. Never been, looks beautiful and there are decent time flights from Stansted.

We flew to Dubrovnik with easy jet from a midlands airport - I can't remember which one though.

I refuse to acknowledge that Gatwick exists, let alone consider flying from there.

Amalfi coast is gorgeous.
I preferred Positano to Amalfi.
Sorrento is larger and probably a good base area for trips to Pompei, Capri, Positano etc.
I'm not sure if teens/ tween will enjoy that sort of holiday.
Beaches not great.

Juan Les Pins near Cannes good for kids that age?

We went to Ile de Re last year and loved it (younger kids though!).

I am searching too OP.

We have specific dates : 2 week all inclusive from 27/28th July to 12/13 august. Dh, me, 13 and 8 year old.

Don't mind where we go. Want cheapest possible deal. £4K. Will it have to be Turkey? Or will I get Balearics or Canaries?

Looking online at Jet2 and On the Beach. And others.
Also phoned Thomson are she agreed to search for me.

How else should I be searching?

Croatia is awesome & still such good value for money.

We are hopping Dalmatian Islands this year - flying to Dubrovnik and back from Split with Jet 2 and EasyJet - from Newcastle though!

I search flights and then look for places to stay. We are using a combo of friends apartments, hotels & Air BnB. I've booked all transfers between islands online.

Dancergirl · 27/06/2017 12:25

We've gone back to look again at Croatia. Found a flight from Stansted that might work.

Oblomov17 if you have Facebook, check out Holiday Pirates

I probably prefer Greece to croatia. Croatia is beautiful but I find some places are quite nice (expensive) but other places are a bit run down and are cheep but don't have nice food etc. Dubrovnik is nice though as are the islands around split. Hvar inparticular.

Have you thought about getting a villa? You can get a decent villa in Greece for the price of a mediocre hotel

Oblomov17 · 27/06/2017 12:57

Thank you Daisy. I'm looking now!

Dancergirl · 27/06/2017 14:08

Just booked Croatia!

Decided we had to make some compromises so have settled for a Gatwick flight. It's in the afternoon so no early morning rush to get there. Found a nice hotel in Dubrovnik with lovely pool and great reviews, just under £5,000 for 2 rooms including flights for 11 nights Smile

oblov try Trivago and Expedia
