Where is warm in Europe end of May/beginning of June?

Hi everyone,

We are looking at going away for the May half term and possibly into first week of June. Is there anywhere that we can go that will be warm enough already to swim in the pools? I don't mind a few cooler days as we like bike rides and things. I have been considering Croatia or Lake Garda or Algarve. I have never been away earlier in the year though, we always go September but daughter is off to school in September this year! We will have a 5 year old and a 1.5 year old.

We went to Croatia in May half term just gone. It was hot- 26° each day. The pools were a bit chilly but doable, the kids were in them, in and out all day.
Really, really loved it. Good value for money and absolutely beautiful scenery everywhere you turned.

We own a property on the costa de la Luz ( also known as the Spanish Algarve) and it's usually pretty warm in May/June. We were there at half term and were in the pool every day

If you want to use the pool at the end of May I suggest you get somewhere with a heated pool. The problem at that time of year isn't the day time temperatures it is the night time ones which mean the water never warms up. A heated pool should be up to temperature by the end of May. Here in the Vendee we heat the pools Beginning of May to End of September.

I live in the Algarve and am usually swimming in our unheated pool in may, daytime temps will prob be mid to late 20s, pushing 30

We went to Tenerife last May half-term and it was mid to high 20's, which suited us just fine. While we were there, some friends of ours were on the Algarve and it was even hotter there!

Cyprus will be beautiful temps late may early June - certainly nudging 30 degrees.

All pools will feel slightly chilly when you fist get in at this time though but definitely manageable.
