Holiday help suggestions August

Family Holiday help suggestions wanted for this August please. We have holidayed in nice holiday let's in quieter parts of the Algarve with no facilities on site (in Carvoeiro and Alvor) which we've enjoyed (but last years kids found it a bit too quiet)?and we've done the mad AI holidays in Majorca when the kids were younger and enjoyed kids clubs and nightly shows. Now DC are 12 and 13 we wanted suggestions for something in between the two a little livlier that wouldn't break the bank? We have a boy and a girl so ideally a double bed for us and twin beds for DC's. Any suggestions please destinations, companies etc? We are open to private let, B&B, private let or AI (with the exchange rate as it is). Many many thanks

Whats your budget?

Brighteyes27 · 24/06/2017 19:39

Thanks all. Well maximum 3 grand for accommodation and 4 flights. If say Algarve we can get good day time flights from Scotland to for between 500-800. But I would expect camping to be considerably cheaper. It's more about happy kids, temperature not to excessive, somewhere clean, some good food and wine, family time, time to read and relax and nice safe area.

Depends what excessive temperatures are to you but lake garda in Italy was brilliant. We had younger kids but campsites like bella Italia get good reviews and have lots going on. We stayed at camping del garda and it looked like they do lots of activities in high season and was a great place with a pizzeria. Temp in August though is likely 30 degrees plus. For lower temps you could look at alpine places like Slovenia and Germany but I don't have any specific recommendations.

Have you looked at the major tour operator websites and Thomson seem to have some decent prices for the last week of August.

4 Star HB hotel including flights from Glasgow can be found to multiple destination from £1500. Lots of choice in Spain, Rhodes, Tenerife etc. Check them out. Definitely deals out there..

Hairydilemma I have been on the Jet2 website as we like the airline (slightly more leg room), good flight times and are a bit cheaper from Scotland but really can't decide don't want to stay somewhere too mad that you have to get up at 6am to get a sunbed, somewhere mainly geared to much younger kids so our two are complaining they are bored or somewhere with a tiny room with tiny beds and bad food. I am driving myself mad with it all.

Have a look at cruises? P and O and RC had trips round the med at under £800 for a room with a view although balconies a bit more. That's flights and all inclusive accomodation plus teenage kids clubs.
