Help me choose my next holiday - will be taking a 2 year old

This is a bit premature to be posting this, as I'm actually currently on holiday right now, it's been our first with our son who is now 10 months old. It got me thinking what I'd do differently next time to make it the perfect getaway.

Currently we're in an all inclusive 'family friendly' resort in Croatia. The flight time was perfect (2 hours) and the temperature isn't unbearable but we HATE the all inclusive aspect - no one looks where they are going at the buffet and there's never enough high chairs, and the food is a bit...meh. We've ended up going out every day for at least one meal. Which makes me think we're not making the most of the all inclusive IYSWIM.

So next year we want to go in September, somewhere with an ok flight time (max of 2.5 hours). And maybe somewhere self catering in a nice town with lots of places to eat. But most of all, we want it to be a place/area with lots of other families and things to do with kids so our son isn't bored.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to be in a place with a million places to go eat a full English and a load of Irish pubs.

The Talayot Apartments Menorca
A fab little spalsh pool on site and a few different quiet beaches a short walk away. The restaurants are varied and we found quite a few serving delicious menorcan food. Yes there are a few doing chips and burgers but you can't really avoid them in Spain. Best bit was nearly every restaurant/cafe/bar had bouncy castles or play areas for the little ones. There is a bus from right outside to take you to Citudella (I think that's how you spell it) for some fab architecture and culture and some lovely tapas restaurants. Or hire a car and you can basically go where you want the island is only 30 miles across.

Have a look at Cambrils Park in Spain. We've just been with our 2yr old. It's a great set up with loads for kids to do, nice accommodation and pools but it's a short walk to lots of bars and restaurants or a short taxi/bus to the next town

Thanks for the suggestions - I had actually looked at the talayot apartments. So will take a closer look when I get home. All sounds good.
