Sorrento?

Well I have finally managed to talk my dh around to agreeing to a short break away. Everywhere I have mentioned he has had an objection to so when he agreed to Sorrento ( somewhere I have always wanted to visit) I was pleasantly surprised.
Any recommendations for a hotel please? Not small and friendly, somewhere romantic as we will be child free, and no more than approx £800 for the week. I need to make the right choice so that in future he will more readily agree to my suggestions!

Can't recommend a hotel but Sorrento is fabulous! I stayed there with uni for the summer and have very fond memories; it's a beautiful place and the food is amazing! Enjoy.

Grand Hotel Aminta, just out of the centre but with a courtesy bus. Sits high on the hill with amazing views.

I would also say Grand Hotel Aminta. Lovely hotel - we stayed in the annexe which was fine but if we go agiain would try to stay in the main hotel. Sorrento is quite busy so it's nice to have a hotel just outside especially with a courtesy bus. Great service and great views

Hotel continental is lovely very central so you can walk everywhere

LilaBard · 11/06/2017 12:10

Yes try continental. I stayed at girasole some years back (lovely and very friendly but doesn't fit your bill OP) and walked past continental every night and thought it looked a bit swankier

We are staying at the Grand Europa in August. Reviews are good on Trip Advisor and close the the square etc

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I haven't decided which one to go for yet, but it means a lot to get personal recommendations.

We stayed in a cheap hotel, but would recommend Delfina restaurant.
If you're doing the Capri trip either do an organised excursion or book earliest/latest boats and get the extortionate taxis as the buses are totally rammed and infrequent

I won't recommend the place we stayed as it was not good (and I have forgotten the name!) but my very unromantic DH proposed overlooking the waterfront in Sorrento so it always has a place in my heart.

Capodimonte Hotel is absolutely stunning went a few years ago now

  • 5 cascading pools, a short walk into the town for lovely restaurants and dont forget to do a boat trip to Capri mega £££ there but worth a visit.

Be warned though in Italy the evening finishes about 11ish, we were tucked up un bed before midnight everynight even the hotel bar doesnt stay open
