I thought it would be nice but he hasn't given me anything to go on! I've suggested cottage/beach/city/hotel/pool etc etc - all met with a shrug and "I don't know, just show me some places."

Maybe I should just save my money unless anyone has any bright ideas please?

He may have his mind on other things right now ...

Maybe think what you know he normally likes and just book that?

My 16yo ds would have been extremely enthusiastic as long as it was somewhere like Alton Towers.

When I was 16 me and my mates went to Newquay for a week after our GCSE's.

Maybe the idea of having a holiday with parents doesn't appeal, I know it didn't with me when I was 16!

wouldn't bother - mine just wants to go out chilling with friends for a couple of weekends afterwards, then looking for PT work.

Show him some places. Pick a nice city break, a nice cottage, a nice beach. Wave the photos in front of him and let him choose.

DD and I picked a cheapo long weekend to Spain after exams. Before school holidays begin so cheaper! Beach to relax on, pool to swim in and sunshine all the way. Can't wait Wink

I wouldn't have wanted to go away with my parents at that age, sorry!

Jungfraujoch · 08/06/2017 16:15

Mmm some good points made - especially about not wanting to go with parents!

I'll save my pennies!!

I would have loved to go away at that age with my mum! How about a cheap but cheerful city break in Barcelona?

My daughter has just finished her GCSE'S too. She's been hanging out partying with her friends since. We had a BBQ & told her she could invite some of her friends, we put them in a separate part of the garden & just let them get on with it. We are also taking her & a friend to a music festival & camping nearby, I would consider maybe taking yours & a friend of theirs somewhere ?
