Any BA Avios experts?

Hi,

DH is off on a business trip on Saturday and because he's hopeless I have filled out all the details on his flight booking for him, passport number, emergency contact etc.

He's flying with BA and although he's had an avios account for ages this is the first business trip he's done and the first flight that isn't short haul economy.

Looking at his "rewards for this booking" he's getting 14,697 airmiles and 560 tier points. I've looked at the calculator and it says that the maximum tier points you can get is 140 each way - and the flight is a direct flight. Is this just something you sometimes get as a perk or is it a mistake? He's got another long haul trip 1 week later and I'm hoping it might mean that he will get a silver card that we can use for trips together to get into the lounge.

Anyone familiar with the system?

He will earn 280 tier points in total for the flights made but that will not be added to his current membership year total until each leg has been completed.

You earn Tier Points by flying with BA and their OneWorld airline partners. The number you earn depends on your ticket type andfare class — in general, you’ll earn more on longer flights in premium cabins and on flexible fares

Unlike Avios, Tier Points cannot be bought, shared or spent — their sole purpose is to move you through the tiers of the Club

Tier Points are reset to zero at the end of your membership year.

He needs 600 tier points clocked up over his membership year to get a silver card.

Thanks for your response - I've worked it out now, he's booked on a flight out which is 210 tier points for first and on the way back he is in business but on the wait list for first. So it has added up all his points for the 3 flights (even though two of them are the same flight). Very confusing!

I didnt realise he would fly first because i thought most companies do business and its his first trip with his company. 350 for this trip if he stays in business and then 420 for his other long haul should tip us over the 600 mark Smile
