We are going to Argeles sur Mer in July, can anyone reprt on the mosquito situation there? Wondering how well stocked I need to be!

We have been in August and been bitten alive. None of my super-strength anti-mosquito stuff stopped them. If I went again I would buy when I got there - whatever the local pharmacy recommended .

Fantastic holiday though, other than that.

Oh dear! Thanks, we'll be prepared now, DH is a bite magnet so will need xtra strength stuff, did nothing work? Was it an all day problem or just the evening?

I used to holiday in the S of F every summer as my grandparents were French and rented a summer house there. Anyway, we ritually rubbed citronella oil on our skin every evening. but that was the 70s and 80s and they probably have something more advanced now. I agree with going to a local Pharmacie and asking for a recommendation. The French take their medicines and potions very seriously!

Sorry, no real help but it almost sounds as if you want to know if you should take your own mosquitoes!
Garlic, citronella, jungle formula and suitable long sleeve/leg clothes may help, or not.
Hope you have a great time anyway.

It was mostly in the evenings - but also in the day too. DD was bitten and she isn't normally.

I had plug in things (bought in Menorca) which kept them out of the bedrooms, but it mostly happened when we were sitting outside in the evening.

Currently in the south of France and fighting a losing battle against mozzies - and we are in land! Bring or wear citronella if out at night!

Thanks all, I'm well warned now!
outabout no mossies here to bring, plenty of midges though, they can fight it outGrin

They might revive the Auld Alliance!
